Typographics is an annual typography design festival hosted in New York City. Within the 2 day conference are workshops hosted by the TypeLab offering a variety of courses given by numerous international designers to better typographic skills and knowledge.

  • The client is the Typographics festival, specifically the TypeLab who is hosting a new workshop called “Experience Type.” 

    The poster brings awareness to this event and express the visual excitement typography brings while promoting viewers to purchase tickets to the workshop and festival.

  • The title of the workshop “Experience Type” doubles as a call to action. The motion emphasizes the visual experience of the poster by flipping through a variety of typographical treatments.

    A black and white color palette allows the experimental visuals to shine. The design is layered upon atmospheric noise from NYC to represent the festival’s location. The flipping through of type mimics the metallic sound of a typewriter and manually setting type, with the final “ding” of a typewriter concluding the motion sequence.

Each lockup of type is made with a variety of fonts to create engaging visual forms.

It all starts from a simple storyboard scribbled on a piece of copy paper.
