The experimental solution combines hand-made elements and creation with a digital interface to create a stop-motion like effect; emulating the alternative style of the band. The music video includes references to iconic moments throughout the band’s discography including characters, outfits and plot points in the storyline they have been building for over a decade.
The art of process
The stop-motion effect is achieved by converting the found footage to a lower frame rate, followed by printing this frame sequence, applying elements such as paint, pens, and scratches before scanning it back into the computer.
Every element in the video is made by hand through drawing, painting, distressing, or collage.
The project visualizes the lyrics of the song while being full of references to the storyline and iconic elements of their brand.
This passion project was made for educational use. All original footage, music, and brand elements seen in my video belong to Twenty One Pilots and their team.
